From Pastor Kathy’s Desk ...
Here we are once again, celebrating the harvest. As days turn colder, and darkness comes earlier; it is the time for stories. Families gather; as traditions are honored. Have you ever noticed how often the same family stories are told? We never tire of hearing the stories of our lives or those of our ancestors. They become a part of who we are. How fortunate we are if faith stories are part of our heritage. Have you talked to your family about why you believe what you believe? If not, it’s a wonderful gift you have to share. As a pastor, I have many opportunities to share my faith story. I never fail to be surprised by how sharing my story renews my faith. It reminds me of how faithful God has been in my life, even when I was not faithful. Sharing seems to increase our faith and our faithfulness. In the same way, sharing seems to increase our awareness of how abundantly we have been blessed and of how much we have to share. The title for our Confirmation material is “Claim the Name”. Naming is important. My stepdaughter and her husband are having a hard time agreeing on a name for their little one who will be born in April. Aren’t we blessed that God knows each of us by name? And that Jesus claims each one of us as HIS. During this Season of Abundance make a list of the many blessings in your life. Then make another list of how you will choose to bless others. God tells us, “You have been blessed to be a blessing.” May God bless each of you with a deep awareness of the rich and wonderful legacy that is yours as a Child of God.
Good Stewardship is a spiritual experience which bring the feeling of give to another, of sharing the resources we have, of expressing love through sharing something valuable. |
