MEMORIAL GIFTS
and
ESTATE PLANNING
MEMORIAL FUND
The
church remembers the faithful who have obtained their heavenly reward in
many ways. One of these is through gifts to the Memorial Fund. The Memorial
Fund uses these gifts to purchase permanent and appropriate items for
the church. Recently, for instance, some Memorial funds were used for the
purchase of the new church steeple. Other examples may include the Altar
Paraments, collection plates, stained glass windows, etc. The fund is
managed by the Memorial Committee and the Board of Trustees.
Making
a gift is easy. Simply bring your gift to the church office, or mail it in,
and include the name of the loved one and your name and
address. The church secretary will acknowledge your gift with a
card to the family. We will also acknowledge that a gift has been made to
the fund in the church newsletter. Of course, the amount of the gift is
always kept confidential. For our out-of-town members and friends we will send
an acknowledgement of your gift by mail.
Please
remember the Memorial Fund the next time you want to do something wonderful
in memory of a loved one. Together, we can acknowledge the saints of the
church for years to come.
ENDOWMENT FUND
Our
church is not only interested in the church of today, but, is also very
much planning for the church of tomorrow. In addition to our Memorial Fund
the church also has a permanent Endowment Fund. Our Endowment Fund has more
than doubled since it's inception with the interest earned being
available for any purpose the Trustees may deem appropriate.
Building a
local church endowment fund is a great opportunity to provide for the
church today, but also expands the possibilities for tomorrow. An endowment
gift is a permanent gift. It is like a savings account where you only spend
the interest or earnings, but the principal or original gift amount is
never spent. Therefore the gift serves the Church in
perpetuity.
An
endowment fund can enhance church ministry and outreach, help care for
facilities, and have positive tax benefits as well.
We
Methodists support our local United
Methodist Church
through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service during our
lifetime. Many of us love the Church dearly and would like to do more, but
are frustrated by limited resources or other obligations. Planning a
bequest in your will is a powerful way to give more and overcome that
frustration.
Contact
the church office or pastor about how you can make a difference in the
future life and ministry of our church.
