The purpose of the Leavittsville United Methodist Church is to provide a place of worship for the family of God and to lead others to Christ. We seek to create an atmosphere where young and old alike can grow in knowledge, faith, and discipleship. Our authority is God's Word, the Bible.

We are striving to strengthen each other in the faith by prayer, encouragement, instruction and discipline so that we may be an influence for good in the community and throughout the world.

A particular burden God has laid upon our hearts is to reach younger families in our community for Jesus Christ.

• Each Wednesday
• Midweek Bible Study, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. (combined with Dellroy) at the Leavittsville United Methodist Church (winter) or the Leavittsville Annex (summer).
• Each Saturday
• Men's Breakfast & Bible Study, 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. (combined with Dellroy) at the Leavittsville Annex (old brick schoolhouse just below the Church).  Men & Young Men - come and join us for a great breakfast and an even greater time of spiritual fellowship with the Lord and with other men!

Monthly Events

• Christian Women's Club - first Thursday of each month. 7:00 p.m. at the Leavittsville Annex.   All women are invited.

• Mary/Martha Women's Circle - meets the 3rd Tuesday morning at the Dellroy UMC Church (basement fellowship hall), Sept. - May.  Bible Study at 11:00 a.m.; Carry-In Lunch at noon.  All women of the Charge are invited.

Directions to Leavittsville United Methodist Church

• From Carrollton/Dellroy: Go west on St. Rt. 39 to Dellroy, past the Elementary School to Liberty Street. Turn LEFT (south) on Liberty - which becomes Explorer Road outside the villiage. Follow Explorer Road until it ends at Antigua Road. Turn RIGHT on Antigua and follow it to Leavittsville.  The Church is at the intersection of Antigua and Caddy Roads, at the south edge of the village. Bear left onto Caddy Road. The Leavittsville Annex (old schoolhouse) will be to your left and the Church entrance and parking lot on the right.

• From New Philadelphia/Sherrodsville: Go east on Rt. 39 to Sherrodsville. Turn RIGHT (south) on St. Rt. 212, then a couple hundred feet later turn LEFT onto Hazelton St. across from the Bank. This becomes Antigua Road (County Rd 11) outside the village. Continue on Antigua Rd. approx. 2-1/2 miles to Leavittsville. Turn RIGHT onto Caddy Road. The Leavittsville Annex (old schoolhouse) will be to your left and the Church entrance and parking lot on the right.

Sitting on top of a hill in Southwestern Carroll County, over looking the Village of Leavittsville, is the United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Antigua and Caddy Roads.

The church was founded in 1825. However, the first church building, which was a crudely made structure, was built in 1830. In 1845 a new church was built, but was destroyed by lightning in 1902. With the help of the insurance money and volunteers, the present structure was built and dedicated 6 months later. The sanctuary has a seating capacity of 150.

In 1956, the congregation purchased the Leavittsville School house, just across Caddy Road from the Church, and transformed it into a fellowship hall. Known as "The Annex", it is still used today for various Church and community activities.

In 1986, an Education wing was added to the church. This initially included 3 Sunday School rooms, full basement, handicap ramp - and 2 rest rooms, marking the first time in the church's long history that we had "inside facilities". New carpeting was added to the sanctuary two years later, and following that, two large classrooms in the Education wing basement.
