11/15
Color: green
Scripture: Hebrews 10:11-25
Scripture Reader: Carol Rich
Sermon: The Post-Sacrifice World
Psalm: Ps 116 (p.837)
Topic: For Christians, there is no more sacrifice for sin. To the writer of Hebrews this is a pretty big deal. If this is true, then we live in a post-sacrificial world. In our world we draw near to God; we hold to the hope we profess; we encourage one another; and we continue to meet together, as we “see the Day approaching.”
11/22 Christ the King Sunday
Color: White
Scripture: Revelation 1:4-8, John 18:33-37
Scripture Reader: Randy Pirkey
Sermon: Kingdom and Kingdom Come
Psalm: Psalm 98 (p.818)
Topic: Today is Christ the King Sunday in the liturgical calendar—the End of days. Jesus tells Pilate that he is a king, and that his kingdom is presently not of this world. In Revelation Jesus is “…the Alpha and the Omega…who was, and who is, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Today our topic is the Kingdom of Jesus and its coming.
11/29 First Sunday of Advent
Color: purple
Scripture: Jeremiah 33:10-16
Scripture Reader: Rhonda Schwab
Sermon: Promise of Redemption
Psalm: 100 (p.821)
Topic: This is the first Sunday of Advent. The promise of redemption is given to a people who live in exile. How did redemption come to those people? How has it come to us? Redemption is more than a theological concept. It is the real power of God to overcome the brokenness in our lives, and it is here!
