DeBows
mission is . . .
To make disciples for Jesus Christ by proclaiming Him as Lord and Savior, and
with the help of the Holy Spirit, be His representative in our community
through worship, education and service.
DeBows will fulfill
this mission by . . .
U Witness for Christ
We will spiritually renew our congregation to prepare them to be effective
witnesses for Christ in their daily lives. They should be ready to proclaim
the message of Christ by word and deed, that their unconditional faith in salvation
through Jesus Christ should be evident in their good works.
U Worship and Education
We will base our worship and education programs first and foremost on
Scripture. We will build on our Wesleyan heritage and strive to preserve true
Christian values. We will promote family involvement and encourage our youth
to participate in all levels of the living church, for it is through them
that the work of Christ will continue.
U Stewardship
We will continue over 100 years of faithful stewardship, and we will remain
dedicated to preserve the physical, fiscal and spiritual stability of DeBows.
Our congregation, through witness and using their varied individual talents,
will commit themselves to further Christ's work here on earth.
U Community Service
We will offer spiritual renewal in an increasingly secular environment by
extending an open invitation to worship and learn about Christ, and to show
by example how Christian living can and must relate to contemporary society.
We will be, as DeBows has been in the past, a beacon of love and spiritual
stability in our community.
U
Missions
We will actively reach out to those in need to the best of our abilities. We
will do this at the national and global level by supporting United Methodist
organizations such as UMCOR and Special Advances. We will do this at local
level by promoting community organizations and programs aimed at relieving
the suffering of others, as well as attending to the physical and spiritual
needs of our own congregation.
