Our Outreach supports more than 35 missions, sending more than $36,000 all over the world in 2009, in addition to tangible gifts sent. Our goals for 2010 include our monthly focus missions, which are:

January - Souper Bowl - competition between the “angels” and the “saints” to see which team can bring in the most donated food to help the King George food pantry. We will encourage people to bring in items for a complete meal. In place of the regular soup lunch for the congregation, we will host a soup lunch for our neighbors.

February - Thurman Brisben Homeless shelter / Micah Ministries - Hopefully we will have our first scheduled date to serve dinner at the shelter this month.

March - Mexican Christmas - we will continue to collect and send gifts to our friends at Mission Bethel in Mexico.

April - DUMC Youth/DUMC pre-school

May - Conference Offering - as dictated by the Bishop as time gets closer.

June - P.E.T. - vehicles provided to children who have lost their legs in landmine accidents.

July - Boatrights - Missionaries to Costa Rica ministering to Nicaraguan refugees.

August - Bibles - organizations TBD

September - Unity in Diversity - Rising Hope UMC.

October - Good Samaritan Ministries - aid to meet needs of local families in crisis.

November - Thanksgiving baskets - total of 30 this year.

December - Tentative-Alternative Gift Giving-pending review of how it goes in 2009- we will review results in Feb. and go from there.
