Open  to ages from 7th - 12th grades and meets at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evenings.

with Church Families
We are blessed to have 3 citizens from other countries participating
in our church activities:

  • Aleksander Krstevski

  • Victor Lopez

  • Megan Page

Aleksander and Victor are living with Steve and Kathy Brooks, and
Megan Page is living with Judd and Bobbie Doerfler.

The following questions were answered in this manner:
  1. What city and country is your home?

A: Strumica, Macedonia
V: Santander, Spain
M: Brisbane, Australia
  1. What surprised you most about the U.S.?

A: The way people think and act.
V: The different ways that people think about things like
  church, alcohol, teenager life, college, etc...

M:  The amount of different words.  I have accumulated over
  30 differ words i.e. "sweater" is a "jumper" at home.
  1. What do you miss?

A:  I miss my friends, and I miss discos.
V: My food, my people.
M: My family & close friends, mainly the closeness of my
  friends-fitting in without any effort.
  1. What do you like about the U.S.?  Dislikes?

A: High school, sports, cars, people, church.  / To many laws.
V: High schools, church, sports, technology. / There aren't
  many close, really close friendships or relationships.

M: The variety of goods, the proudness of the people (fly flags
  everywhere), the amount of sporting activities to always go &  see. / Too many TV channels to choose from! (Otherwise, I love
  it here!)
  1. What will you tell your friends back home about Fairmont?

A: I'll tell them everything about here, about high school, church,
  about the beautiful place.
V: That people go to church every Sunday; that it is very  good to have sports in the high schools.
M: Nice town, with heaps of little places to shop & so many
  services considering the population. Close to many other shops.

  1. What is a typical meal in your country?  What is your favorite American food?

A: Sarma, musaka. / Sloppy-joes and hamburgers.
V: Tortilla De Patata (Spanish omelette). / Hamburgers.
M: Steak & vegetables for dinner.  /  Brownies - we don't have
  them at home - I      them. 
We have thoroughly enjoyed  Aleks, Victor, and Megan during our UMYF activities.  We are better for knowing them.

"Originals" of Kids Under Construction
We wish to congratulate six members of our "Kids" group.  These have been in our group since we started 4 years ago.
We are proud of you, and best wishes to Cassie Garcia, Garrett Jordan, Kate McConnell, Tyler Nesselrotte, D.J. Nunan and Matt Wilmoth!
They were awarded special plaques at our last meeting.

Equipment/Furnishings for Sale
In our clean-up campaign we hav efound several items that are no longer being used by the church.  These include:

  • AB Dick copier  (Choir Room)

  • metal desk  (Choir Room)

  • stationary bicycle (off Fellowship Hall)

  • stereo-no speakers (Fellwoship Hall)

  • metal table (outside of pastor's office)

  • treadmill (off Fellowship Hall)

  • piano (youth room)

To purchase any of these items, please place a written bid  in an  envelope and turn it into the church office or give it to Janie Hamilton or Nancy Hoffman.  Funds generated will benefit the  Adopt a Room Project.
