The first 2 Sundays in October, please plan to take a shoe box from the foyer before or after church.  Please sign your name on the list so we can keep an accurate count of how many boxes we will be sending to Operation Christmas Child.

 

CHILI - TACO LUNCH, OCT. 6

Enjoy a Chili-Taco Lunch, 11am -12:30 pm, sponsored by  the Senior Youth in the Fellowship Hall;  the menu will include: chili, soft or crunchy tacos, salad, cupcakes, and coffee/tea for a donation of $5 per  person; $2.50 for kids. Proceeds benefit outside youth activities.

 

LAST DAY TO SIGN-UP FOR GAITHER CONCERT IS SUNDAY FOR A“CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING” CONCERT, SAT., DEC., 14 

Total cost for the concert ticket and bus fare is $40 per person. This is the last day for reservations. PAYMENT must be made by OCTOBER 6 to hold your reservations.  Because of the ticket demand–we cannot hold your ticket without payment after Oct. 6.   Make checks payable to: FUMC and memo: Gaither Concert.  See the reservation table in the foyer.  Ticket money is non-refundable.  We will leave First Church at 2:30pm on December 14.  We will stop for dinner before the concert at an additional cost.

Warm Hearts = Warm Nights  JUMP will be supporting JOURNeY’s Second Annual sleeping bag collection project.  Please donate your new or gently used sleeping bags by calling the JOURNeY office number at 366-5188 for pick-up.

Phone Book Collection; Deadline is Today  JUMP member Sarah Stiles is collecting old phones books for her school.  If you would like to donate yours, there will be a box designated for phone books in the foyer.  For more information, contact Sarah at 366-7022. Senior High “Operation Christmas Child” - We will finish the shoe boxes for the congregation and move everything to the 4th St. foyer.  We will also plan the chili-taco luncheon for October 6; remember it’s at 11 AM-Youth Room.

SIMPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE:

Adopted Child - JUMP has raised the annual amount to support their adopted child through June of 2003.  Thank you.

Fund Raising Lunches - Oct. 6, Oct. 27, and Nov. 3; (see above & below.)

Fairmont Food Pantry - Sandra Berisford has made a request for toothbrushes and toothpaste.  Please place donated items in the designated box in the foyer.

Habitat For Humanity - Place your tightly sealed bags of pop cans behind the church office to be recycled for cash to help H for H house fund raising.

Pull Tabs - Bring pull tabs from your beverage containers and deposit them into the plastic containers provided for Ronald McDonald house.

Shoe Box Ministry - donate or fill empty shoe boxes for needy children.

STUDY GROUP LEADERS' MEETING  A training session for leaders of the 40 Days of Purpose Study Groups will be held Sunday, October 6,  at 5 P.M., in Fellowship Hall. This training is for leaders who will be teaching the curriculum during the Sunday School hour as well as the during the week. Study groups begin October 13.
