Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry of First United Methodist Church brings care to people in need. This confidential, Christian caregiving is a vital part of the total healing ministry of Christ's body, the Church. Stephen Ministers are trained to aid the care receivers to more effectively deal with their own situations and grow. Are you hospitalized, terminally ill or a family member, new to the community, grieving, homebound, experiencing a job crisis, needing the support of a friend, coping with divorce? Stephen Ministry is here to bring Christ's love to you.
As a care receiver you may:
- develop stronger ties with a community of Christians
- grasp the role of suffering in life
- accept forgiveness and grace from God and others
- give forgiveness and love
- increase your level of trust
- start a relationship with God
- renew your relationship with God
- learn positive attitudes and expectations
