Sunday School Program The Broken Bow UMC offers Christian education opportunities for all ages, pre-school through Adult. Our Sunday School meets weekly from 9:30am to 10:40am, September through May. Special schedules and classes apply during the summer months. Please call the church at 308-872-5963 for details. An infant nursery is provided during Sunday School, and is also available during the late service for both infants and toddlers. Pre-School and Elementary Classes: Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten: Ages 3 and 4, as well as 5 year olds who are not yet attending Kindergarten. Activities begin with clay crafts. The Cokesbury series, Exploring Faith, is used. Children are read a Bible story, color pictures from the student booklet, sing songs, and have a snack. Kindergarten and Grades 1-2: Exploring Faith (Cokesbury) explores the Bible through stories, puzzles, music, and craft activities. Grades 3-5: Exploring Faith (Cokesbury) explores the Bible through reading, written activities, skits, music, and crafts. Grade 6: Confirmation Class. Text used is Claim the Name which is the official confirmation resource for The United Methodist Church. Junior High Youth: Grades 7-8. Connect, Life and Christian Faith for Young Teens (Abingdon), a discussion based curriculum. Senior High Youth: Grades 9-12. Curriculum used - Bible Lessons for Youth, Cokesbury Quarterly. These lessons follow the lectionary for the day. Adult Classes: Pairs and Spares: Age range 30's - 70's. Mission Statement: "People who care enough about each other to be honest and not let their differences of opinion destroy their unity of spirit." Presently studying, Oh Say Can You See? by James Moore. Past studies have included The Prayer of Jabez and Troublesome Bible Passages. Seekers: All ages, but primarily 40's and 50's. Curriculum: Adult Bible Studies (Cokesbury), which examines the lectionary readings. Friends and Family: All ages. A variety of topics are discussed. Recent studies have included Angels, published by Waterbrook Press, which examines who or what angels represent, how they worked in the life of Jesus, and how they are present in our lives today. Previous studies included Growing through Life's Challenges, Biblical insights on dealing with rejection,loss and grief,depression and anger,and perplexing situations. Parenting Class: Age range 20's through late 40's. Currently studying, God Was Here & I Was Out To Lunch by James W. Moore. Past studies have included, Parenting By Heart Video Series by Total TV, Making Marriage Work Video Series by Total TV, Sensing the Passion, Troublesome Bible Passages, by Douglas E. Wingeier & David Lowes Watson, Parables from the Back Side, by J. Ellsworth Kalas, The Beverly Hillbillies Bible Study, by the Entertainment Ministry. This class presents and discusses current views, and the while topics are interesting and sometimes controversial, the atmosphere is light-hearted. Parenting Class has also taken on a project that is 7 years in the making. All children who are hospitalized at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow are given a bag of goodies to help ease their hospital stay. The class puts together the bags that have colors, coloring sheets, small toys, a Christian book and other small trinkets. Builders Class: Older Adults. Curriculum: Adult Bible Studies (Cokesbury), which examines the lectionary readings. Keystone Class: Older Adults.
