Rev. Kevin Burkhardt (“Rev Kev”) started as the Pastor of the First UMC of Curtis and
the Garden Prairie UMC on July 1, 2004. This is his first appointment.

Kevin was raised in Ohio, and after graduating from Pickerington High School in 1983, he went into the
U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Cannon A.F.B., New Mexico .

After the Air Force, he worked many different jobs in Southern California, Eastern Iowa,
and Nebraska. To name a few, he has been a Security Officer, tow truck driver,
customer service rep, shuttle bus driver, cross-country big rig driver, an emergency ambulance dispatcher, and a truck parts clerk.

Kevin is doing a “Course of Study,” which means that he does some of his Seminary
training while serving his appointment, and for four weeks every year for at least
five years, he will go to a Seminary for classroom instruction.  He has completed his first year at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO, and his second year at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.

Kevin is a strong believer in helping out in the community.  He volunteers at the Star Theatre in Curtis, spends time helping 1st Grade students with their reading, assists with various civic organizations, rotates with other area pastors doing devotionals at the local Assisted Living facilities, and is an Emergency Medical Technician and Training Officer with the Frontier County Ambulance in Curtis.

Rev Kev uses a unique and direct (as well as sometimes humorous) way to get his point across.

Rev Kev will be leaving us soon to accept another appointment in the Conference.

He is married, and has two sons and two step-sons.

Kevin’s parents live in Ohio, as well as his two brothers and a sister.
