CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY THEATRE

 v     A mission statement:

 MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Christian Community Theatre is to bring wholesome, family entertainment to the Bibb County area.  This group will consist of local volunteers.  We wish to be self-sustaining financially and to constantly improve the qualities of our productions.  We will open and close each session with prayer, and never perform any shows with a message contrary to Christian doctrine.                     Approved January 13 ,2005

v     Location of Rehearsals and Shows:  TBD

v     Likely Rehearsal Days:  TUE / THU / SAT

DIRECTOR’S NOTE:

We are joining together here to fulfill our mission as a Christian community theatre.  We want to produce the best quality plays within our means, yet still have fun and fellowship.  However, I must ask that each actor or actress commit themselves tonight to the success of the CCT while we are gathered together.  It doesn’t affect our success if you socialize before you get here or afterwards, but when on stage or during rehearsals, I expect your total concentration and dedicated effort to get better each time.  You have made the commitment to be a part of this group.  Our acceptance in the community will only come if we do quality work on a timely schedule.

MEMBER GUIDELINES

Every member is a volunteer, participating because they truly want to be here.

Every member will be regular in attendance and dependable.

Every member is a team player, not in it for personal fame.

GENERAL POINTERS

  1. There is ONLY ONE DIRECTOR.
  2. Anyone can have the job who wants it.
  3. Say “Thank you” to any request by the Director.
  4. Director may cut material from a play, but not add or modify.
  5. What separates pro plays from amateur plays (other than $$$) is DETAILS.
  6. Scenes will be blocked, rehearsed, changed, revisited, etc.  Feel free to make natural changes to interactions – director will decide if good change or not.  Once scene is cemented – no more changes!
  7. Two actor types:  Once learned – hard to change scene; always adaptable
  8. The Director (and assistant) is the mirror for on-stage performers.
  9. Director strives to be fair, give guidance, and perspective.
  10.  Develop a biography for your character – make him/her real!
  11.  Read between the lines.
  12.  Actors who can think are a director’s godsend.
  13.  Scenes must have focus and balance.
  14.  Never stand in a straight line unless you are in a chorus line.
  15.  Try walking, running, standing, crawling, hanging, dangling, wobbling, etc.
  16.  Best scenes build in intensity – more actors, more sounds, more lights, etc.
  17.  Costumes, accents, props, sets must fit the period / season.
  18.  Try to strike a reciprocal deal with local vendors (publicity for resources).
  19.  Be on look out at yard sales / thrift stores for unusual props / costumes.
  20.  Cast feedback is welcomed.
