Our pastor, Rev. W. Glenn Walker and his
wife Teresa came to us in June 2003 as our 49th pastor in the 115-year
history of our congregation. Although the Walkers have lived in
Jacksonville, Florida, and Huntsville, Alabama, they are both originally
from this region. Brother Glenn is a former aerospace engineer and
astronaut candidate who has followed God’s calling into ministry. He now
teaches mathematics at Bibb County High School in
Centreville. Rev. Walker began
his servant ministry in 1992 as a certified lay speaker in the North
Alabama Conference, before entering the candidacy process in 1998. He
comes to us after serving five years in the Uniontown charge (Uniontown, Faunsdale, and Newbern). The Walkers have two children: a junior at
Huntingdon College and a senior at Dallas County High School. Although
Bro. Glenn is considered a part-time pastor for conference business, his
ministry is a full-time commitment. In addition to preaching on Sunday and
attending other church functions, he is committed to visitation, Bible
study, outreach, and missions. The Walkers are active in youth and
children ministries, first as a foster home for DHR, and secondly as
mentors for the teenagers at their school. Expect them to move ahead with
high energy and contagious dreams for God’s kingdom. |
