Rev. Mary Gean Cope has been Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Crowley since June of 2005. She came to Crowley from Ferris, Texas where she pastored First UMC for over nine years. Prior to being appointed to Ferris, Mary Gean had served for eleven years as Associate Director for the Council on Ministries of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, headquartered in Fort Worth. She has been an ordained Elder in Full Connection with the Central Texas Annual Conference since 1997.
Mary Gean grew up in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a B.A. in International Affairs in 1972, and received her M.Div. from Brite Divinity School at TCU in 1994. In the 1970's she assisted her late husband, Bob, in his ministry at churches in Fort Worth, Burleson. Gorman, and Hurst. She taught in the Burleson and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD's and at Nolan Catholic High School. Mary Gean has three adult children and 4 grandchildren.
