A Letter from the Zeuch's...

January 2008

Happy New Year!  The year came to a close with many blessings to fill the month of December.  God poured out blessing after blessing to remind us of the work that He was faithful to complete.  Projects were completed to enhance our sanctuary.  We were able to use donated money to build a stage, a coffee counter, hang a 5ft. cross above the stage, mount speakers, the video projector, mirrors, and also have a nativity scene built.  A warm, professional look now radiates from the atmosphere inside the church.  All of our church family were amazed at the improvement these changes made to our worship environment.  It’s a beautiful place to be!

Throughout the month of December we participated in several Christmas outreaches and events to allow for the celebration of Christmas to be an important time in all of our lives.   We had a very special night for the whole church family to gather for a formal catered Christmas dinner.  Everyone dressed up in their best saris and formal wear for the event.  We enjoyed the special night, fellowshipping, dining, and playing a group game.  From the small charge we asked for the dinner, we were able to provide a free dinner for 40 people in Stephen and Malliga’s outreach to the poor in the slums beside the church.  Our home group cooperated to serve the people their meals.  We also went into the neighbouring middle class area to sing Christmas carols with around 20 people.  Many people invited us into their homes, gave us Christmas sweets and even sang along with us as we strolled through the streets.  Our children presented a wonderful Christmas program directed by Emi, our children’s ministry coordinator.  The children dressed in costumes, did choreographed dances, recited Bible memory verses individually, sang songs, and also re-enacted the story of the birth of Jesus.  They were absolutely precious and blessed our whole church family.  Christmas Eve we held a service for extended worship and a short message.  These events helped to unify our church family on a solid foundation, giving us the confidence that the church is grounded with dedicated leadership and genuine worshipers who want to express their love to Jesus and servant hood inside and outside the church.  We praise God that the church is growing in numbers and maturity!

We kept up some of our American traditions by visiting Santa at the mall, however Jesse was a little too scared to even look at him!  Micah enjoyed his visit and we bought some Christmas cookies (sort of) to help us get into the Christmas mood.  Our Christmas morning was spent with just our family as we took our time eating a big breakfast and opening presents.  Jesse’s favorite present was a soccer ball from Micah and Micah's favorite present was shoes with roller skates that pop out of the bottom.  We spent the rest of the day with friends and had a good chicken biryani dinner.

Throughout the month, we have also been immensely blessed by our new worship leader, Jied, who has jumped right in to not just lead worship, but to help in any way we need for the church.  He was from the Shillong Vineyard in North India, pastored by our good friend Godfrey.  He had been staying with us in our apartment through the month and was of immeasurable help to us as a friend and new leader in the church.  He will be getting married soon and has great ideas and a servant's attitude for the BVC.

Our home groups are growing and changing as leadership was passed on to Frank for our Tuesday night group.  The women's group also added some new faces and has been of great personal benefit for Amy.  Our friendships are growing deeper with our Indian friends as well.  Amy meets weekly with her friend, Tammy, an American woman who runs a Children's home with 49 kids, where they chat and pray for one another.  Things seemed to be on an upswing finishing the year.  We spent the last day of the year travelling to Chennai (directly east of Bangalore) on the coast to spend a week with 21 of our church members at the beach for the Vineyard Family Conference, but more on that in the next newsletter!  We love you very much and hope that you would continue covering us with prayer as we venture into this New Year with many plans and hopes!

Comin' up the mountain,

Scott, Amy, Micah, & Jesse
