57th Annual Christmas Bazaar
Saturday, December 5, 2009
8 AM to 3 PM
The Bazaar was started in 1953 to help pay for the construction of the building we currently worship in each week. The Bazaar continues to this day with profits going to missions, replacing things in the kitchen and other projects in the church. In the past 5 years we have purchased the stainless steel refrigerator, the gas range and the ice maker. The Bazaar also makes annual donations to the church Samaritan Fund (which buys meat for funeral dinners) and local groups like SERVE, Haven House, Ecumenical Ministries and other church projects.
The booths include: the Food Pantry, Woodworking, Cards, Knives & etc., Children’s, Gifts Galore, Christmas Cookies Buy the Pound, Silent Auction, Zimmporium, Pecans.
Special Dates
November 15: If you would like to have you Bazaar donation displayed in the bank window, please bring it to the church no later than November 15. Our items will be on display at the Callaway Bank Community Window from November 16-November 30, 2009.
November 30, 5 to 8 PM Candy Making Night: As in the past, some church folk get together, share some recipes and talents for an evening of candy making. Not a cook? That’s okay; we need dishwashers and clean up help also. Adults only please, there is a lot going on at this workshop.
December 3: Vegetable cleaners are needed from 9 AM to noon.
December 4: Booths will be set up & ready to be merchandised. If you can help set up during the day, your help would be appreciated. Evening set up as early as possible please.
December 5, 8 AM to 3 PM: Our doors will open for business and let the fellowship begin! Donuts will be available at 8 AM & lunch will be served from 10 AM to 3 PM. The Jaycees Christmas parade will be at 1 PM and the theme for the parade is “150 Years of Christmas in the Kingdom: Christmas Past”. The “What Is My Bid” Silent Auction will end at 2 PM.
December 6: Reduced items for quick sale may be available after both worship services. Hopefully we won’t have anything left to sell!
Items Needed
CDs for craft items—the children will be making fishes to sell.
Quart jars to sell soup and chili for take home.
Food items—homemade candies; baked goods; homemade jellies, jams, relishes, pickles (things canned this summer).
Silent Auction items—new or used in good condition. Items we’ve had in the past include: antique dishes, Fulton memorabilia, various services from local businesses, new decorating items, light fixtures, new furniture, gift baskets, and the list goes on and on. Please look in your closets for some item you may no longer need or some new item that is not part of one of the other booths, and put it in the “What Is My Bid” booth.
Handmade items—it is never too early to get started making something. These items might include: Christmas ornaments, wreaths, floral centerpieces, Christmas stockings, or whatever you may be making for your own family. Make a couple extra items for the Bazaar.
Volunteers for everything—chairpersons to organize & work booths; crafters to make items to sell, bakers to bake cookies, cakes & pies; phone tree organizer; pie organizer.
Your questions or suggestions are welcome. Bunny Baxter, 2009 Bazaar Chairperson
