Photo contest cosponsored by Church of the Saviour and Lively Images "Injustice
anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable
network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever
affects one directly, affects all indirectly." Church of the Saviour is cosponsoring a photography contest with Lively Images. The theme is the interdependence of life. The challenge will be to show how we depend on one another, how we depend on the rest of nature, how the health of the natural world depends on us. No single photograph needs to reflect all of that, the idea is to give you a general notion of what we are looking for. Global warming will be an area of special interest at Church of the Saviour in 2007, it is one example of Martin Luther King's "inescapable network of mutuality." We all depend on one another directly or indirectly and what we do to our planet definitely affects not only us but all of life. We often associate Martin Luther King's name with civil rights and that is certainly one important instance of our theme but the general theme is broader than that and, in addition to the issue of civil rights, can be any of what might be categorized as environmental themes. The issue is interdependence - with one another, with the rest of nature. Read more about the contest by going to Lively Images. All the details are there. |
