nChristmas Store: At Christmas time, the Cookson
Hills Center becomes a Christmas
Store. Gift items or money is donated and families are allowed to shop there for one gift item per family member
at a nominal cost. Children
are allowed one clothing item and a toy. Families also receive a gift box. Applications are accepted in
November. Christmas collections are accepted year round.

nSenior Citizen Program: Every Monday and Wednesday
we serve a nutritious
lunch. A program that enables senior citizens an opportunity to visit, share, and get away from home. They have
lectures, crafts, trips and entertainment.
The center also provides health screening, home visits, transportation and food to the elderly.

nCottage Industries: The Cookson Hills Center is
looking for new ways to provide
incomes to the unemployed of the area.
nWe presently offer:

n God’s
Handiwork- Embroidering altar clothes, stoles, hats, shirts, jackets, towels ect.
n Silk
Screening of T-shirts, tote bags, aprons, and other fabrics for your youth group, VIM groups, United Methodist Women
Fund raisers, or any other
activity that needs promotion.
n Our
Craft Store provides an outlet for our local crafters to market their crafts as well as for our visitors to shop! All
crafts are made by Cherokee people,
and are sold at modest prices.
nRecycle Rebound- Employing the Unemployable- We’re
making door mats out
of old tires. They are great for
entries, dishwashing rooms, or utility rooms. The
mats are good for environmental awareness, and as a fund raiser.

n The
Thrift Store is open during the week for anyone to shop. We offer good quality used clothing and household items at
reasonable prices. Donations
are accepted, although we ask you to please remember "send what you don’t use, not what you won’t
use!"

Program
Opportunities
Children’s
Program: The
Cookson Hills Center provides a Children’s program through the school year for
both the Cookson, Keys and Marble City areas.
Summer
Program: Throughout
the summer, we offer a children’s program during the daytime. You can help by
providing supplies - time - or any resources available. Please call or e-mail
for more information.
Pack-n-snack
for our Children and Youth program.
This helps supplies meals for the children and youth on the weekends
and while school is out for the summer.
Computer
Lab: Through the
generosity of the United Methodist Church, we have developed an extensive
computer lab. Opportunities for classes, individual tutoring, and general use
are available. On-line computers are also available. We accept donations
of used computers and we especially need monitors.
School
Supplies: Through
gifts and donations of the churches, we are able to supply our children and
youth with items that they need to start school each fall. A list of school
supplies can be obtained by calling us.
Alcoholics
Anonymous & Alanon: An
open 12-step meeting is held in the gym each Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.
m.
Seasonal
Programs: Garden
seed is given free to those desiring a garden. Plants are raised in our
greenhouse as well. Baby chickens are also provided to be raised by
participants.
Work
Camps: The summer
provides a wonderful opportunity for Volunteer in Mission groups to visit
Oklahoma and work in the homes of our families. Projects include painting,
roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical work, sheet rocking, and many other
projects. Contact staff for more information. We schedule one year in
advance.

Cookson Country Cupboard- The Seniors participate in fund raising for their program. These fund raisers include baking, making jelly & jams, candies, crafts and cookbooks. These items which support their programs are sold in the Country Cupboard. Donations of crafts are accepted for the Country Cupboard.

God’s Handiwork-
is the newest
addition to the cottage industries at Cookson Hills Center. We do custom embroidering on hats, shirts, jackets, towels, as well as paraments. The goal of “God’s Handiwork” is to employ people who often times find it difficult to find employment.
