The organized unit of United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Membership is open to all women of the church. We meet at the church at 7 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month except June, July, August. Meetings consist of devotions, business, program, and dessert and social time.
Each May we host a Mother-Daughter dinner and each December, a Christmas tea. In addition, we have standing committees for luncheons, funeral dinners, weddings, Harvest Dinner bazaar, and library maintenance. We also help with the annual church rummage sale, attend various District UMW meetings and events, and sometimes sponsor a women's retreat.
There is also an active Guild Circle, which meets at the church at 7 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, except July and August (June and December meetings are held in members' homes.)
A women's Bible study group meets at 251 N. Elm Street each Tuesday at 10 a.m. A women's Prayer Group meets at the church each Monday at 6:15 a.m.
COME AND JOIN US--WE'D LOVE TO HAVE YOU!
The mission of the Colville United Methodist Church is missions, and because of this our Missions work area is actively supporting several different missionaries and groups both locally and throughout the world.
We actively support UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, the missionary arm of the United Methodist effort. Through that organization many places around the world are helped through such projects as the Heifer project which supplies live animals to needy families in foreign countries. UMCOR also helps individual missionaries in many countries of the world. Locally, our church is active in supporting Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, the local Food Bank, the Family Support Center, the Stevens County Shelter, and various civic activities such as replacing light bulbs in homes of the elderly (mainly done by our men's group).
On the global scale our local church supports Wycliffe missionaries in two different localities, individual missionaries in Japan, the Blackfeet Reservation, and evangelizing missionaries such as Jim Moore from the Blue Lake community in Washington State, and finally, several special day mission projects.
As Christians we are given the task to go and make disciples of all mankind. As a church, one of the ways we seek to do this is through our work in missions.
