Eco-stewardship
God
invites us to live fully in this world, loving one another and taking
delight in the beauty of all creation. More than any other time, we
are being called now to take responsibility for ways we've become wasteful
and take advantage of the Earth's resources. Scripture reminds us of
the convenant God made with his people, providing us air, water, land and
resources to live well. Scripture also reminds us we have a
responsibility to be educators and servants in the care of the beauty
around us.

Eco-stewardship
tips
Remember
key words: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Simplify.
As you attend to the
business of daily life, take a personal environmental audit of your
daily practices.
- Shine your Divine
light by switching out your old lightbulbs and replacing them
Compact Fluorescent bulbls. (CFL's). They area simple and
highly effective way to reduce energy consumption, and thus reduce
greenhouse gasses. Once you install a bulb it saves energy for
years and lasts 10 times as long as an incandescent bulb. We
can perform this act with gratitude for the beauty God has given us
on this Earth. Remember as a community of believers, we are
serving God as Stewards for Creation.
- How long does the
water run for dishwashing, shower, brushing teeth?
- Do
you consolidate trips to the grocery store, errand-running,
transporting children to after-school activities?
- How
much junk mail, soft drink cans, and plastic goes to a recycle
center or the landfill?
- How
long is the refrigerator or freezer door open while you decide what
to put in or take out?
