Sunday Morning Worship

At Cole Memorial, we believe that worship is essential for Christian nurture and growth. Sunday worship is held at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday and includes a wide variety of music, a children's story, intercessory prayer, and biblical preaching that seeks to connect God's eternal Word with the needs and concerns of present day living. A nursery for young children is always provided.

Sacramental Life

Holy Communion is celebrated monthly on the last Sunday of the month. In addition, Holy Communion is also celebrated on Maundy Thursday and one of the highlights of the year is our Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service.
Baptism is offered to people of all ages including infants.  Except for unusual situations, all baptisms are incorporated into a regular Sunday morning worship service.

Special Worship Services

In addition to observance of the special Sundays related to the Christian Liturgical Calendar, Cole Memorial offers a variety of special worship services throughout the year including…

Ash Wednesday Service (with other UM churches in our cluster)

Maundy Thursday Service of Holy Communion

Easter Sunrise Service (with Derita Presbyterian)

Community Thanksgiving Service (with other UM churches in our cluster)

  Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion

Drama Ministry

The Cole Memorial Drama Ministry provides brief dramatic skits during worship services and on other special occasions.  Actors of all ages are welcome as well as persons interested in assisting with props, costumes, sound, etc.

Ministry of Music

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, which consists of mature teenagers and adults, provides choral music for weekly worship services and for other special occasions during the year including an annual Christmas cantata. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 p.m. All persons who enjoy singing are invited to come and "make a joyful noise to the Lord."

Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir uses our three-octave set of hand bells to provide a beautiful addition to the music ministry of Cole Memorial. Handbell Choir members range from sixth grade to adult. The choir rehearses on Sundays, 3:30 pm during the school year.

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir (grades 6 – 12) meets in the Choir Room (S204) on Sunday evenings from 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. The Youth Choir sings primarily contemporary Christian music with keyboard and guitar accompaniment.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir (4 year olds through 5th grade), rehearses in the Children’s Worship Center (Room E102) from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Sunday Mornings.  The children go directly to their Sunday School classes following children’s choir.

Children and Worship

Cole Memorial believes that worship is an essential ingredient in the faith development of children of all ages. The following special programs are provided as an encouragement for our children and their families.

Nursery Care – Children of all ages are welcome in worship at any time; however, a nursery for young children is provided for all worship services at Cole Memorial.  The nursery is located in Room E108 on the first floor of the education building and is staffed by a minimum of two volunteers each week.  For security, the building is locked during the worship service and a direct intercom line is available between the nursery and the head usher in case of emergency.

Children’s Worship Bulletins – Age-appropriate lectionary based children’s bulletins are available in the narthex each Sunday along with a bag of crayons.  The worship bulletins provide age-appropriate activities (puzzles, word games, etc) related to the Biblical theme of the day’s worship service.

Children’s Story – Most Sundays our pastor provides a brief children’s story time during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.  The message relates to the worship theme of the day.

Children’s Worship – Children, 3 years old through 3rd graders, leave the sanctuary following the Children’s Story to participate in Children’s Worship, a very special time of music, Bible activities, and more.  Children’s Worship is not held on Sundays when the Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated so our children may celebrate the Sacrament with their families.

Liturgical Dance

Females from youth age and up do interpretive movements with sign language of contemporary Christian songs.
