Hello! My name is Susan Yingling. I’m so excited to be here. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Michigan, met and married my husband in Pennsylvania and we have been living here in North Carolina for about 9 years. I have three children ages seven, nine, and eleven. Some of the things I enjoy doing are skiing, reading and camping. I have my teaching degree from Penn State University and a minor in Early Childhood. I’ve been teaching preschool for five years and I absolutely love it. We are going to have a great year and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.

The children love to do educational games on the computers.

Philosophy of Education

At Weaver Preschool, each child will be nurtured in his or her understanding of God, in social relationships and language, physically, emotionally, and cognitively.  Learning will be fostered through play, with an emphasis on art, creativity, and music.  We believe that guided, developmentally appropriate play provides a strong foundation for future learning.

Our program will provide a busy, hands-on environment that takes advantage of what children do naturally: explore the world around them through play.  Play requires active thinking, experimenting, and problem solving.  Through these direct, interactive experiences, children grow across all areas of development.  As children are guided to work and play together, they learn to take initiative and make decisions, cooperate with others, follow instructions, and think of themselves as capable persons.

Our program will incorporate stories, art, music, Bible verses and stories, role playing and drama, age appropriate language, math and science experiences, movement activities and outdoor play, and special enrichment programs.

The staff at Weaver Preschool will love and respect each child, knowing that as children are loved and respected they will in turn love and respect others.  In our safe and nurturing environment, children will be encouraged to express themselves as individuals, and develop in their own time.  We will value each child as a unique and precious gift from God.

The children love to do addition problems using M&Ms.

Hours and Days of Operation

The school operates from the Tuesday after Labor Day through the Thursday prior to Memorial Day.  The preschool will be in session from 9:00 am. to 1:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  We will follow the Charlotte-Mecklenburg public school system calendar for teacher workdays, holidays, vacation days, and weather-related closings.  In case of inclement weather, please tune to your local radio or television stations for school closings.  If Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are closed, preschool will also be closed. Here is the Charlotte-Mecklenburg website: http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/.

If Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are delayed one hour we will open at 10:00 am and close at 1:00 pm.  If they are delayed two hours, we will not open.  If Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools close early, we will also.  We will not make up days missed due to weather-related closings.

Weaver Preschool Shines

Friday evening, December 19th, Weaver Preschool presented a delightful rendition of the Christmas story. Teachers, students, grandparents, family, and others gathered for a covered dish meal in the gym. There were about 75 in attendance. It was very cute. The children put on a wonderful program. They sang 6 variations of Christmas songs. One of the two year olds, who was an angel, said to one of the shepherds, “Come on guys, sing with me.”  What a challenge to all of us! –“ Come on guys, help me tell the world the story of Jesus’ birth.”
