UNITED METHODIST MEN
About a dozen men of CUMC met on Saturday, April 19th, and decided to form a somewhat more formal organization by chartering under the banner of the General Committee on United Methodist Men (GCUMM). We will be meeting again on May 17th to shape the direction we want to take to support the needs of the men of our congregation. ALL men are invited to join us for breakfast at 8am and to provide their input. If you can’t attend, please contact Rob Shafer. What are the possibilities? An article from the Interperter Magazine offers a broad view, but remember, our goal will be to make it meaningful to the men of CUMC. “The heart of the ministry of United Methodist Men is, simply put, about evangelism of men, encouraging them to seek Christ daily and to grow in their faith by prayer and bible study, and witnessing through deeds and actions. It is also about sharing their faith and mentoring men and boys. The focus is not inward, but outward to all men, assisting those in the community as well as the church to engage in spiritual growth.”
THANK YOU FROM U.M.W. UMW thanks all those who supported the Easter Drive for food to aid Helpline’s spring break lunch and crafts program. 53 children attended so our donation was a big help. The shopping cart overflowed with cans of tuna, jars of peanut butter and jelly, oatmeal and granola bars. Everything was accepted joyfully and Helpline thanks each and every one of you! Communion Sunday Collection (organized by the Worship Committee) are requesting donations of baby foods, including the “junior” variety, for May. For June, we will be collecting food for the summer lunch program—tuna, peanut butter, jelly, various fruit snack items, etc. If we all help a little, we can make a difference. Thank you, also, to those who attended “Music and Meatloaf.” We were filled to capacity (both the fellowship hall and our tummies!). A great evening was had by all. A special thanks goes to the Puget Soundsters for their fine entertainment and also for their generously refusing our donation to their group. They asked that the entire funds raised go to our local mission outreach.
