CHESAPEAKE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

GIRL SCOUT TROOP 900

Girl Scout Troop 900 has met at Chesapeake UM Church for several years. They have helped with some of our mission projects as well as their own community service projects. Many thanks should be expressed for their endeavors.

They will be disbanding with a closing service at the Church, November 3, 2002, at 7:00 p.m.

The Brownie Troop will continue to meet at the church on Tuesday evenings, 5:30- 7:00 p.m.

Members of the Girl Scout Wilderness Road Council Troop 900 recently won the Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive. Dogs at the Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter in Huntington have more comfortable places to sleep thanks to a Lawrence County Girl Scout troop.  Members of the Girl Scout Wilderness Road Troop 900 from the Chesapeake area spent almost the entire summer building platforms for the 27 dog cages at the shelter.  For this, four of the five girls in the troop received the Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive.

Honored Girl Scouts grateful for sponsors' help

Girl Scout Wilderness Road Council Troop 900 completed the highest Junior level award, the Bronze Award. The girls built replacement platforms for the dogs at the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter. These new platforms give them a place to lie and sleep off the concrete floor.

Over the course of the last year, our troop has called upon many local individuals and businesses for donations of time, materials, money, food, etc. The response was wonderful!

We would like to thank the following sponsors but their contributions that made the project possible: Albert (Black) Construction, Four J’s Building Components, Brag's Paint and Body Inc., Briggs Library Eastern, Hawthorne's Body Shop of Proctorville. 84 Lumber Route 60, Jennifer and Stephanie.

Stroud of Mary Kay, Chad Ferrell of Animal Care Clinic, Little Caesars Pizza 29th Street of Huntington, United Methodist Church. Briggs Library of Chesapeake, the Rev. Dale Henson of Hoods Creek FWD Church, Girl Scout Wilderness Road Council of Ashland and Walmart of South Point.

Please come by the shelter and see the completed project and the display poster. Donations to the shelter are always welcome and of course, loving cats and friendly dogs are available for adoption.
