NEW TO CUMC?

We’d love to be your church home and if you’re considering becoming a member at CUMC, we’ll do everything we can to help you be part of our vision: “To invite people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through worshipping, learning, loving and serving.” Here are some questions you may have about joining:

I’m not Methodist, can I still join CUMC?

Absolutely! Believe it or not, the majority of people that join our church are from other faiths: Catholic, Baptist, Church of Christ, Lutheran, etc. There are more similarities in most main stream Christian religions than differences and we focus on those similarities instead of the differences. If you have been baptized, we accept your baptism and your belief in Jesus Christ and will warmly welcome you.

I have not been baptized …

If you believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Savior, we will perform your Baptism in a brief ceremony of this outward symbol of God’s inward love for us. It can be arranged ahead of time or you can come to the Church Office after ANY service. There are no classes necessary.

I’d like to learn more about Methodist beliefs …

I would be happy to meet you anytime to discuss our beliefs. You can reach me at 301-868-1281 or cumcmd@verizon.net.

How do I join CUMC?

By Profession of Faith:  If you have never been a member of any church, you may join by professing Jesus Christ as your Savior.

By Renewal of Vows:  If you have been a member of a church at one time, but have been inactive, you may join by renewing your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

By Transfer:  If you are a member of another church, you may join by requesting that your membership be transferred to Clinton UMC.

By Affiliate Membership:  Sometimes an individual has reasons for keeping his or her membership in another United Methodist church, but would like to be an affiliate member of Clinton UMC.

By Associate Membership:  An individual has reasons for keeping his or her membership in a church of another denomination, but would like to be an associate member of Clinton UMC.

During either the 8:00 or 10:30 services, just fill in the attendance sheet  located in the pew and indicate you want to meet with me--or speak to me after the service.

I know I speak for the members of the church when I extend to you a most wholehearted welcome to CUMC! I’d love to get to know you so please call me!

Blessings,

Rev. Stroman
