United Health and Welfare
Ministries:
These ministries provide more
than $2 billion annually in benevolent and charity services in the
United States according to the Report from the United Methodist
NEWSCOPE.
South County Community Food
Pantry
Clinton UMC collects food on
the second Sunday of every month and partners with a sister church,
Faith UMC in Accokeek, MD, for weekly distribution of food and
emergency food supplies to the hungry. Faith UMC has a
well-organized Food Pantry. They distribute a week's supply of
produce and meat every Friday to approximately 40 to 50 families.
Every Sunday, members of Faith UMC prepare and distribute 120 lunch
boxes for distribution to the homeless in the District.
Proposed New Social Creed:
The 2004 General Conference
directed that the 1908 social creed be revised. The proposed
new creed to be presented to the 2008 General Conference reflects
more current use of language, and is more liturgical and poetic in
its presentation than its predecessors.
Africa University Choir
Clinton UMC was blessed to
have the Africa University Choir perform a concert
at the church in 2006. The 0Africa University
Choir is an established choral ensemble at Africa
University. Currently, all the members of the choir
are students of Africa University. The Choir is
steeped in a musical tradition that dates back many
years, and it forms a vital part of the musical
activity within the University and the wider
community. Africa University Choir is a mixed SATB
choir - which means we sing in four parts.
