Dorothea Belt Stroman’s Biographical Sketch

 

          Dorothea Belt Stroman was ordained as Deacon in the Baltimore-Washington Conference in June 1986 and an Elder in June 1988.  On July 1, 2007, Pastor Stroman celebrated 21 years in the pastoral ministry.

 

          Pastor Stroman graduated from Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, in May 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University Divinity School in May 1986.

 

          She served as a student intern a Emory UM Church while attending seminary; Associate Pastor at Simpson-Hamline UM Church (1986-1988); Assistant Pastor at Emory UM Church while on study leave (1988-1989); ordained a Deacon in 1986; ordained an Elder in 1988; Associate Pastor at Foundry UM Church, Washington, DC (1989-1991); Pastor of Albright UM Church, Washington, DC (July 1991-June 2004); and is the current Pastor at Clinton UM Church, Clinton, MD, since July 2004.  She taught Lay Speaking at the School of Christian Growth for nine years.

 

          She is also a contributor in The Women of Color Study Bible, 1993.  An excerpt from a sermon titled “The Potter Shapes Our Lives, Turning Flaws into Strengths,” appeared in the Washington Times, February 14, 2000.

 

          Pastor Stroman is married to Rev. Dr. William B. Stroman, Jr., and they have one son, William B. Stroman, III.
