Recent Mission Activities

  • Another Kidstuff Clothing Exchange! (April 24, 2004)
  • The Lenten mission project in 2004 was for "Fish Ponds in the Congo." This project will help fund fish ponds to provide protein for families, hospitals, schools, and orphanages in North Katanga in the Congo Democratic Republic.
  • In March 2004 supplied volunteers and cookies for Bingo at the Martin Luther Home on three Wednesdays.
  • We hosted a Red Cross Bloodmobile on March 6, 2004.
  • We collected and delivered 17 large boxes of materials to be used in Zimbabwe at an orphanage and hospital. (January 2004)
  • The children in the Sunday School collected 32 shoe boxes full of materials to share with children in need (December 2003).
  • The United Methodist Women participated in The Holiday Project, providing gifts for area families in need (December 2003).
  • In conjunction with the CROP Walk, the Sunday School pupils collected food items for the Clark Mills Food Pantry (October 2003).
  • The Committee on Missions, Social Concerns, Race & Religion collected 22 Health Kits for UMCOR (October 2003 to January 2004).
  • Another successful Kidstuff Clothing Exchange! (October 25, 2003)
  • Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Clinton UMC (September 27, 2003)
  • Our Vacation Bible School teachers and pupils raised $940 for Heifer Project International.
  • The UMW disbursed Salad Luncheon profits and other funds raised during the past year. Designated recipients included: Walsh Prison Ministry, Rotary International Campaign to Eradicate Polio in the World, W.I.C. Program for Herkimer and Madison Counties, World Thank Offering, the New Jersey "Who Is Your Neighbor" program (June 2003)
  • The Middle School class held another carnival for children at the Thea Bowman house (March 29, 2003),
  • We held another successful Kidstuff Clothing Exchange on May 3, 2003.
  • Sunday School children collected coins to support the Malawi chicken project (March 2003) sponsored by the Missions and Social Concerns Committee.
  • We again hosted the Red Cross bloodmobile (March 1, 2003).
  • The Middle School class helped a client at the Rescue Mission provide gifts for his grandchildren at Christmas. They collected $75, shopped, and then wrapped the gifts for delivery.
  • The Sunday School classes collected socks for the Thea Bowman house (December 2002)
  • Our Middle School class held a carnival for some of the children at the Thea Bowman House (November 2002)
  • Our Sunday School youth collected 17 linear feet of canned vegetables on CROP Walk Sunday (October 20, 2002)
  • Our spring Kids' Clothing Exchange (April 27, 2002) was again a great success.
  • In 2001 the Clinton United Methodist Women (UMW) made financial contributions to: Hospice, Red Bird School, Red Cross Disaster relief, Gateway, Folts Home, Bread for the World, camping scholarships, Clinton Youth Foundation pool scholarships, the Clinton ABC program, Adopted Families, the Kirkland Town Library, COCVAC, the Salvation Army, Planned Parenthood, the Utica Community Food Bank, Your Neighbors, Inc., Hall House, the Samaritan Counseling Center, Emmaus House, the Neighborhood Center, the Rescue Mission of Utica, the Clinton Fire Department, the Kirkland Bloodmobile Committee, and more.
  • In 2001 the Clinton United Methodist Men (UMM) made financial contributions to: Your Neighbors, Inc. and the Crop Walk.
  • A team from the Clinton UMC volunteered at the Waterville Habitat for Humanity site (December 2001)
  • Fifteen walkers from the Clinton United Methodist Church raised over $715 as participants in the CROP Walk on October 21, 2001
  • participants in the Kid's Crop Walk collected 27 bags of groceries—over 300 items—for the Utica Community Food Bank (October 2001)
  • At the Community Bloodmobile event at Clinton United Methodist Church in September 2001 over 102 pints of blood were collected
  • The Kidstuff Clothing Exchange we sponsored on September 29, 2001 provided provided an opportunity for families "to have good clothing for their children in an affordable manner. Participants receive four items for each item brought in to exchange, or a person may purchase an item for 25 cents." Good, seasonal clothing that is leftover is taken to the Thea Bowman House in Utica. Surplus income is donated to the Neighborhood Center in Utica.
  • Contribution of $670 from the students of the Vacation Bible School to the Food for the Poor program (August 2001)
  • A sum of $600 was contributed to the Marion Medical Mission for drilling wells in two rural villages in Malawi (June 2001)
  • A sum of $520 was contributed to the DeRust Futura Primary School in Grabouw, Western Cape Province, South Africa
  • Our Spring Kids Stuff Clothing Exchange was a great success (April 28, 2001)
  • the UMW dedicated its March meeting to the work of assembling relief kits for UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on Relief) (March 2001)
  • Clinton UMC hosted the Red Cross Bloodmobile (March 2001)
  • the church added over $512 to the Sunday School's Christmas Tree contributions to the Neighborhood Center in Utica (January 2001)
