Month after next there will be a presidential election. The people who vote will
decide if we will keep the current leadership or if we will elect new leaders to guide
us through the next four years. I will not offer any opinion about either choice but I
do urge all of you to voice your own opinions at the polls on the second of November.
There will be a lot of information being presented to us for us to sort out the best that
we can. The last presidential election demonstrated the value of each vote.
We have this unique chance to make our views known. There are passages in the
Holy Word that speaks to this subject very well. For example in the first letter to Timothy,
chapter two, beginning with verse one,. "First of all, then, I urge that supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for (Presidents) and
all who are in high position, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and dignity." Yes! The first and foremost thing we can do is to pray, pray
for our leaders and for any who aspire to become our leaders.
Then in the Second letter to Timothy, chapter four beginning in verse three,
"For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but,
having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own
desires and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths."
It behooves us to test all that we hear, make certain that we are not listening only
to what we want to hear, and to pray for sound judgment to guide us as we choose
among all the things that we do hear. There is a lot of wisdom in First and Second
Timothy and I would urge all of you to read through these two letters.
So, my friends, prepare your hearts as well as your minds for the momentous times
ahead. And, exercise your right to be heard. Vote, pray, and then vote.
Shalom, Pastor David
