Welcome to the website of the Cimarron and Kalvesta United Methodist Churches. I am Kent Little, the pastor. I like to think of our churches as family and each Sunday morning, as well as other times we gather, a family reunion happens. We are a community that cares, prays, loves, laughs, and cries together as we seek to be God’s children in the world around us.
If you do not have a church family I invite you to join us on Sunday morning starting at 9:30am for worship and 10:30am for Sunday school in Kalvesta or 10:00am for Sunday school and 11:00am for worship at the Cimarron church. You are welcome here.
It’s one of the ways we seek to be faithful here in the churches where you are one of the family. Here, at the “Crossing,” where life and faith meet and there is always an open door, a comfortable seat, and a place at the table.

The coming of November always turns our thoughts to the Holiday Season and in particular Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for here in our corner of the world, here in our churches.
As I ponder thanksgiving and thankfulness I wonder what to say that has not already been said time and time again. We are called in our scriptures to be thankful in all things. In other words, no matter how hard things get we are encouraged to look for, seek out, and be mindful of even the smallest thing that might cause us to be thankful.
So today, this month I encourage us to not only be thankful for the big things, the life changing events and blessings of our lives, but the little things that sometimes go unnoticed. Take a moment the next time you see a sunrise or sunset to say thanks. Take a moment the next time you hear a child or see a smile to say thanks. Take a moment the next time you see a flower pop up in an unlikely place, or little ones playing in the yard, or your dog or cat or favorite pet who loves you unconditionally to say thanks. Take a moment the next time you feel the warmth of the sun on your face or the breeze through your hair, or the turning leaves on the tree to say thanks.
German theologian, philosopher and mystic Meister Eckhart (1260-1328 c.e.) spoke to this notion of thanks in a profound and meaningful way when he said, “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘Thank you,’ that would suffice.” Take a moment this month to call a long lost friend or family member just to say, “Thanks.” It is good for our souls.
I pray your November and Thanksgiving is filled to the brim with thankfulness and thanksgiving. That is the word from the place where you are one of the family. Where there is always an open door, a comfortable seat, and a place at the table. A place where you are never alone, a place to call home.
Thankfully yours,
Pastor Kent
