CHURCHILL CHILD CENTER
Since 1969, Churchill Memorial United Methodist Church has
sponsored various programs of ministry to children extending the Christian attitudes and philosophy of our Sunday
morning program to a weekly program. Our programs are supportive of children, parents and families. The programs
vary in number, hours and scope in response to the needs of the community.
Our goal is to plan a program of appropriate activities that support the emotional, social, physical and
intellectual development of each child. Churchill Child Center offers the following variety of programs for
pre-school through elementary age children:
Enrichment/Day Care – Full or part-time care is offered for infants to Kindergarten age
children. Any child attending morning day care automatically attends the pre-school program Morning Enrichment.
Pre-K – A program designed to prepare the four-year-old entering Kindergarten the following year.
Three Year Old Nursery – A pre-school program designed for the developmental needs and abilities
of children who will be three by December 1st.
Friday Playgroup – A non-structured playgroup which emphasizes social interaction for children 18 to 36 months of age.
Latchkey – A morning and afternoon school age program (Grades K through
4) offering snacks, an opportunity to do homework, indoor and outdoor playtime, creative arts and crafts and
computer activities.
Fun- in-the-Sun – A three- hour summer program of guided activities for children 18 months to school age.
Dates are made available in April.
LASU – A summer program for early elementary children who also attend the Boston Recreation program.
Registration is open to any child who is in good health and living in the surrounding community, regardless of
the child’s religion, color or creed. Admission is open until each program is filled and then waiting lists are maintained.
Churchill Child Center’s programs use selected activities in group and individual settings. The use of games,
art and musical experiences, math and science tables, both self-directed and guided free play, storytelling and
finger plays help the children to share, co-operate and build friendships. Our programs also help develop
self-control and direction, build language and communication skills, teach listening skills and foster the
ability to understand directions.
