The Christ Church Missions Committee
We are all one in mission; we are all one in call. A single great commission compels us from above to touch the lives of
others by God’s surprising grace; to plan and work together so every folk and nation may feel God’s warm embrace.
Our varied gifts are united by Christ, the Lord of all.
(From the hymn, “We All Are One in Mission” by H.M. Edwards)

The work of the Christ Church Mission Committee is to create a mission mindset for our church in everything we do. Our aim is to:

Continually pray and seek God's direction in how and what we as a church and individuals should be involved in. (Ephesians 6:18-20)

Serve and tell the story of Jesus Christ to those outside the walls of the church. (Matthew 28:19)

Support missions that provide opportunities for our congregation to use their gifts and talents to further the mission of Jesus Christ wherever they may be (1 Corinthians 12:12-13), including encouraging, recruiting, supporting and sending people out into mission activities from our own congregation to impact our area and those places where the Holy Spirit will lead us to go. (Romans 10:13-15)

Make a difference in our own neighborhood by seeking the well being of those around us. (Jeremiah 29:7)

Risk new ideas, set new goals, and mobilize our people to do ministry outside of the walls of our church building. We do
this because we believe that the mission is really Jesus’ mission and it is a vital part of our discipleship to him.

We seek to have mission opportunities for youth and adults that involve both local projects and traveling outside our own state and country. In the past year (2007) members of our congregation have done mission projects in our home area, including the Christmas gift project for inmates of the Adams County Adult Correction Center, but also in Mississippi, helping in the ongoing Hurricane Katrina recovery and in Uruguay, helping to build Camp Renacer, a youth camp in Paysandu, Uruguay. We are also the home of the Waynesboro Area Fellowship of Churches’ “Lunch Place” ministry, where between 50-65 persons daily receive a hot meal and Christian hospitality.

We sponsor Food & Friends which is an outreach to our neighbors. It is a free meal held twice a month on Thursday evening and anyone is welcome to come. It has grown to the point where the last meal was served to 90 persons.

We ask that you prayerfully consider how God can use your gifts and abilities to join us in mission. We believe that a missions
oriented church will be a stronger and more effective church in experiencing the love of Christ and personal growth that overflows
out into loving serving. We invite you to share in any and all of our opportunities for mission!
