| Vacation Bible School
A Week Of Fun, Exploration And Learning
Each June Christ Church and the First Presbyterian Church hold a joint Vacation Bible School which is open to all children from preschool to grade six. Older children and adults are welcomed as helpers.
Our Vacation Bible School is based on the Market Place where most activities occur outside. The children are divided into small groups, each with a leader and several helpers. Each group has their own tent that they call home. The groups travel between different areas of the market place, visiting story tellers, minstrels, and puppeteers to name just a few. The highlight of the morning is their visit to the main market, where they can create a variety of crafts. Past crafts have included paper making, pottery, plaster casting, weaving, stone cutting, carpentry and making a nativity set.
Each year Vacation Bible School has a different theme. This year's theme is Fruit of the Spirit. Our mission project is the Food Pantry. We are continuing the same format with children in groups traveling among areas such as Puppets, Music, Drama, Games and the Marketplace. Preschoolers will again be at the Presbyterian Church for Music, Puppets, Crafts and Story time, among other activities.
To ensure a wonderful VBS experience, we are asking that parents take a few simple steps:
- Pre-register your child by June 2nd. This allows us to have adequate supplies for crafts and snacks.
- Please do not request that we change your child's group. The groups will be divided by age. We also try to keep the number of children in each group equal.
- Please pick you children up on time. We will dismiss the children by groups and you may meet your child at this time. We do not want children leaving alone. If you are not picking your child up, please notify the leader of who is permitted to do so. We also ask that you enter the church through the entrance on Wooster Street.
- Preschool children must be 3 years old by January 1, 2008 and be potty-trained. We cannot make any exceptions.
