CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

The overall function of the Education Ministry Team is to coordinate all levels of Instruction and Educational concerns within the Church. The umbrella of Education covers a number of different areas within the church.

Some of the duties and areas under the umbrella of Children and Youth Ministry Team are:

Curriculum issues, financial and budget concerns, Children & Youth team meetings, Attendance systems and tracking, newsletter articles, craft supplies, audio visual materials, recruitment of volunteers for teaching and enrollment in programs, snack supplies, and various other details related to the smooth function of any of the areas within the Christian Education program..

The Christian Education program has many wonderfully dedicated and talented individuals responding to God's call to serve the Church with love. If you happen to run into one of these outstanding people - do give them a hug or a smile - they are very special.

If you happen to feel an urge to teach God's Word or get involved, talk to Charlotte. Have we got opportunities for you!

Learning Through Living:  Mel Feather

The goal of this class is to study scriptures in order to learn more about our relationship with God and Jesus Christ.  Through study of both the Old and New Testaments, the class seeks insight into how to live a Christian life.   The class is guided by the teacher in the reading of selected scriptures and then class discussion to try to interpret the meaning of readings and its relevance to our Christian lives today.
Members of the class are asked to bring their own Bibles.  Bibles are also provided if needed
The learning through living class provides an informal, sociable gathering of Christian friends where life's joys and sorrows, struggles and successes, can be freely shared while keeping the focus on the goal of developing a close relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Library

The Church Library is a self-service opportunity to further the education of all. The materials are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System and children's books have an additional color code system. We shelve between 800 and 1000 pieces and offer one of the best Church libraries in the area.

There are certain programs that seem to work and we continue them every year. They are: Children's Library Sunday once a month, Children's 4-week reading program once a year, Bulletin Board changed once a month with books that relate on a table underneath, a special shelf of United Methodist Women's Reading Program books that cover three years and Bookmarks in the church pews.
