Children and Teen programs
Our Sunday School theme for
the 2008-2009 year is:
Children of all ages are welcome, and encouraged to be an active
part of the life of the church. The youngest children participate
in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Christmas Pageant,
to name a few. Older children serve as acolytes; and our teens and
young adults participate in Youth Group and assist at church functions
-- in preparation for being the leaders of tomorrow.
Sunday School at Christ United Methodist Church:
We teach children about the Word of God on Sunday mornings. Classes
are available for grades one through six, or ages 4 - 12 years. Normally Sunday School
meets at 9:00 a.m. each week, from mid-September through mid-June.
There are four classes in Sunday School: Early Elementary (K-1st), Middle Elementary (2nd - 3rd), Older Elementary (4th - 5th) and Tweens (6th - 8th.). The theme is Rock Solid - Building a Heart of Faith, with stories from both the Old and New Testaments; these are related to our times, and the children's needs and interests. The lessons are enhanced with singing, drama, and art activities. A team of two teachers lead each class in compliance with "Safe Children" standards.
The children sing for the worshipping congregation on the 4th Sunday of the month, and perform a Christmas Pageant and assist in leading worship on Children's Day in June.
Acolyte Program:
Older children are invited to take part in our Acolyte program, an important aspect of worship.
Nursery Care:
We offer nursery care during Worship for children under 4 years. We also provide activity sheets for older children attending services.
Camp:
Every summer young people from Christ Church attend United Methodist
Church Camps. Scholarships are available for young people who cannot
afford the registration fees. For more information, contact the
pastor.
