Member Nurture Team

The Member Nurture Team at Cheshire United Methodist has a mission - to tend
our flock. We reach out to our members in special ways and respond to their needs:

Campus Ministry - twice a year we collect school items, toiletries and food, box them up, and mail them to our college students and service personnel who are away from home.

Tape Ministry - every week, tapes of the Sunday service are delivered by trained lay visitors to homebound members. This ministry affords an opportunity to visit and assess the needs of our shut-in members.

Prayer and Concern Cards - each week joys and concerns are shared during the church service. These are recorded by team members, for inclusion in the newsletter and bulletins so we all may know of prayer needs, and given to the Prayer Circle if requested. Cards, with a personal message, are sent to friends and members.

Third Age Ministry - Persons who have reached the Third Age of life (perhaps the Fourth Age!) are not forgotten at CUMC. Three meetings a year allow these members and friends to gather for social events and programs on traveling or gardening and so on.

Transportation is provided.

New Members Ministry - working with the pastor, the team helps new members feel like part of the church family through "buddies" who provide friendship and information.

Lapsed Members - a new ministry designed to reach out to members who have been missing from church and church events. By following up on absences, we let them know we miss them and are available to help if needed.

Meals Ministry - occasionally, members need help with meals - perhaps after surgery, during illness, or in times of grief. Church members feed the body and the soul by delivering meals and visiting.
