Youth
Confirmation class:
We have four young people participating in a series of
activities to explore their faith and
perhaps decide to join the church.
Pastor Linda reports that they having chosen
to make a pair of elegant banners for the
front of the sanctuary.
Also, the youngsters will be working on a Nothing But Nets
mission project. For more information
about this mission, please see the
United Methodist Church's
"Nothing But Nets Campaign"
and
"Nothing But Nets". When Pastor Linda
presented this project to the kids, they
calculated that during the length of time
they spent with the pastor that morning, 500
people died of Malaria. Many of these
deaths could have been prevented with the
use of bed nets at a cost of $10 per net.
The class is "psyched" to make a difference
in their world!
To
celebrate the completion of the confirmation
class, the church will host a dinner for the
entire church family on May 10th.
Details will follow.
Camp
Mechuwana:
The New England Conference sponsors and operates a camp in
Winthrop, Maine. Each year the camp is
host to youth rallies, work parties and many
camping opportunities. This year's summer
camps are listed on the camp's website:
www.mechuwana.org .
The leadership of the Chebeague church give every Island
youngster the opportunity of participating
in a Mechuwana camp experience. The
Administrative Council has voted to provide
assistance to those who need help in order
to attend. Please speak with Pastor
Linda if you or someone you know would
benefit from this opportunity.
