LOVE GOD....LOVE OTHERS

This is the basis of the Christian faith.  It appears in Scripture in the form of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5).  These two commandments will be displayed in various ways around and in our building.  Look for them and honor them.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHILDREN'S WORSHIP BULLETINS

Children's Worship Bulletins will be available for those between the ages of 3 and 12 years who attend our worship service.  The bulletins are a quiet, fun way to involve our children in worship and teach them the Bible.  They are prepared in two groups for ages 3-6 years and ages 7-12 years.  Children are provided with pictures, puzzles, seek-and-finds, mazes, dot-to-dot, hidden pictures, word games and more.  Crayons and pencils will also be provided.

CELEBRATION OF PENTECOST

On Sunday, May 18th, we will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  We say "celebrate" because the actual date of Pentecost this year is May 11, due to the early date of Easter.  May 11th is also Mother's Day, and for this and other reasons we will delay our Pentecost Celebration one week until the 18th.  On that day, we are preparing to receive six persons into full membership and also baptize one infant.  Please wear something red to this event, and come prepared to praise God.  Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship with refreshments to welcome our new members.

MINISTRY TO SHUT-INS

As part of our ministry to those members of our church family who are no longer able to attend worship services on a regular basis, we are mailing our shut-ins the bulletins for our weekly services.  Please email us at ChristUMC@nb.net.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School is set for Monday throught Friday, July 21-25, from 6:00 p.m. 'til 8:30 p.m. here at Christ United Methodist Church.  The theme is "God's Big Backyard" and we will be joined by friends from Wesley UM Church and First English Luteran Church as we have a blast serving Jesus.  Beginning each day at Backyard Bash, our backyard buddies - Stan, Cooper, Alex, and Nick - discover how much fun service can be and they will challenge kids to serve their families, friends, neighbors, communities, and Jesus.  The children at VBS will also experience God's word at Backyard Bible Club, meet real life servants at Community Corner and enjoy fun-filled crafts, snacks, games, and music.  Classes will be available for preschoolers, Elementary students, pre-teens, and  teens.

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

On April 6, the Good Shepherd Sunday School Class is going to begin a study entitled Modern Parables.  This 12 week course is based on six of Jesus' parables and will show how to relate these parables to modern life. Through use of videos, readings, and discussion, the goal of the study is to grow in understanding of the Kingdom of God. The new class will meet in the Church parlor during the Sunday School hour. Click here to visit the Modern Parables homepage.

HONORING OUR VETERANS

As part of our continuing respect and remembrance for the military veterans of our area, we will hold a special serice on Sunday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m.  On this occasion, we will be lifting up veterans of the Korean War for special recognition, as we have previously honored WW II vets.  Everyone is welcome, and military veterans (and their families) of all eras are especially encouraged to attend.  State Representative Jerry Stern plans to be present to give special recognition to each Korean era veteran.  Please join us for this special service.

GRADUATES TO BE RECOGNIZED

Our graduating seniors will be recognized and presented with gifts during worship on Sunday, June 1st.  If you know of a graduate in our church family, please notify the church office as soon as possible.

MOTHER-DAUGHTER BANQUET

The annual Mother-Daughter Banquet will be held Saturday, May 10th, 6:00 p.m. in the Social Hall.  Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 10 years and younger.  Menu consists of filled chicken breast, potatoes, filling mixed vegetables, relish tray, rolls, ice cream and cake and beverages.  A "unique" fashion show will follow the banquet.

YARD SALE

The Yrd Sale Planning Committe is asking folks to start bringing in items for the annual yard sale fundraiser.  Items should be clean and in relatively good condition.  Donated items may be brought to the Church during regular office hours (Monday through Thursday from 8 'til 11:30 a.m.) and should be put in the Scout Hall.  The Yard Sale will be held Saturday, June 28th from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
