Ron (top row, second from the
right) met Penny (bottom row, second from the right) while pastor at the
Nashville UMC. They married May 11, 1991. Both Ron and Penny brought
two boys into the marriage. Ron’s are Rodney (top row, second from the
left) and Aaron (bottom row, first on the right). Penny’s are Erich
(bottom row, first on the left) and Devin (top row, first on the left). Ron
and Penny also became guardians for three of her sister’s children,
Heather, Crystal, and Josh. Heather (bottom row, second from the right) lives
in Kalamazoo, while the other two live in Louisiana. Two grandchildren, Hagen-2
and Kain-4, keep both Ron and Penny very busy.
Penny comes from Winnsboro, Louisiana. She works for the State of Michigan
and, in her spare time, loves landscaping their Holt home.
Ron is from Leslie, Michigan. Regularly, you can find him shooting hoops
in the Central UMC gym. He is a true sports fan and a die hard MSU Spartans
fan--no matter what the sport or winning record. In 1980, he received his
BA at Michigan State in Secondary Education. From there, he attended Iliff
School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, earning his Master’s degree.
In 1985, he became an ordained minister.
Ron is a National Natural Church Development Consultant and has been a state-wide
seminar leader on “Reaching the Baby Boom Generation”. Ron authored
the book A Flint, a Sponge, and a Honeycomb, (which you can find on Amazon.com)
and is a published author in two anthologies. Additional honors include recipient
of the 2005 Evangelical Sermon of the Year, and 1998 Class C Regional Boys
Basketball Coach of the Year.

Bill came to Central in 2003,
having previously been senior minister Grand Ledge First UMC for 10 years.
He also served at Lowell First, Trinity Grand Rapids, Mesick and Harrietta
and Edwardsburg UMC's.
Bill grew up on a farm near Hartford, Michigan, attended a country school,
Hartford High School, Benton Harbor Junior College and MSU. His roots are
Scandinavian. One of his college years was spent in Sweden in an exchange
program. In 1988, his family accompanied him on a pulpit swap with a Swedish
Pastor for 4 months, while his counterpart preached in Lowell. He earned
his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from MSU and Masters of Divinity from
Garrett Theological Seminary. Bill and his wife, Cathy have two children,
Jon and Jennifer (married to Michael Finnegan). Bill chairs the Board of
Directors for the American Alcohol and Drug Information Foundation doing
business as MICAP (Michigan Council on Alcohol Problems).
