CENTRAL SPORTS

Central's Softball Team is ready for yet another summer season of fun in the sun (or rain). We don't have a new stadium or a carousel or sculptures of past stars (we're working on commissions for statues of Brian Bates and Brian Murley) or hot dogs or free agent signings or big contracts (at least not yet), but we still manage to rustle up a good time.

Manager William Tennant Jr. would like to invite everyone to come on out to the ball field this year-this is a co-ed recreational church league, and the first games begin on Tuesday, May 9th. There have been important changes in scheduling for this season: in order to encourage more participation and require less of a commitment to participate, games this year will take place on TUESDAY NIGHTS ONLY.

Every Tuesday each team will play a double-header starting at 6:30 p.m. sharp, and the games will have time limits to ensure that they end by 8:30 p.m. Games take place at various fields in the greater Lansing area.

This is a recreational league, and we encourage any men or women interested (14 years and older please), regardless of ability, to sign up on the main sign up sheet at the church office desk and to play whenever your schedule permits. Participants should have a basic familiarity with the game, enough general athletic ability not to endanger themselves, and possession of their own glove. Bats and balls will be provided. Feel free to invite a friend from home or work to participate in this church activity. For more information, please contact Bill at (517) 224-8159 or on line at wdt7@hotmail.com, or you may contact Ed Keen if you wish at 321-4967. Hope to see you all out at the ol' ball game!
