Dear Fellow Ministers,
I remember being 13 and thinking I was pretty cool (after all, I had the Ric Flair haircut, feathered back and parted down the middle).I even started calling my Dad, "Big John".I forgot my place in that relationship and one day when I came in and he told me to wash my hands for supper I replied, "Well, now, Big John, who's going to make me?"He walked over picked me up, "placed" me before the sink the bathroom and said, "I am".A pretty good reminder that he was the parent and I was the child.
Every now and then we need that same kind of reminder with God.Our scripture for Sunday comes from Jeremiah 18:1-11 and speaks to the image of God being the potter and us being the clay.We need to be reminded pretty regularly that God is in charge.
Please read through this scripture as God forms a sermon in us.I look forward to being in ministry with you this week!
In Christ's Service,
David

Every One A Disciple booklets were handed out in worship on Sunday. They will continue to be available now through our Commitment Sunday, September 23.This program is done "in house" and involves no outside leader. We are simply asking folks to make an intentional commitment to each of our four vows:Prayers, Presence, Gifts, and Service.Included in this edition of our newsletter are the sections for Prayers and Gifts.Presence and Service will be in future editions of our newsletter. We hope that you will prayerfully consider your commitment to Christ through Central as you will have a chance to fill out a Commitment Card for both your Prayers, Presence, and Service (one card) and your Gifts (another card, only seen by Financial Secretary and Bookkeeper).

Central Preschool Center Update
Our preschool ministry continues to serve our community in a vital way, providing the best of child care service for those who need it. The center operates at a high level of enrollment serving both those families who are capable of paying the tuition and those families who require subsidy help. Additional enrollees are expected following this Labor Day weekend.
The center offers a range of educational activities such as art, basic learning, teaching of social skills, and instruction in personal health practices. Additionally children of the center receive instruction in dance and in basic computer skills. The time for supervised play and recreation is important to the life of the children and center, both outdoor and indoor. The playground is being rearranged as a result of our new construction. An additional playground is being built in anticipation of the addition of a new toddler center.
The center holds several special events during the year including the annual Halloween trick or treat walk through Canton, the highly successful and fun spring circus, and an annual Christmas program and reception. The center also holds graduation services for five year old students who are moving to kindergarten (this years graduation was held at the Colonial Theater) and participates in our churches preschool recognition day.
We have many reasons to be proud of our center but for no greater reason than that our Lord has told us to allow the little children to come to us and to love and care for them.
