A Message from Our Pastor

Summer's almost over. School lurks around the corner.  So do many opportunities at Central.  This school year we will resume many of our old faithful ministries.  On Wednesday nights we will continue with our Family Night meals, King's Kids, youth, various discipleship studies, and choir.  King's Kids begin using a new curriculum this year.  We hope to begin a new young adult's Sunday School class on September 10.  We also will begin a new two year Bethel class in October.  More about that later.  Our Futuring Team continues to meet and work on the suggestions Herb Miller gave us in the Spring.

Great things are happening at Central.  God is touching so many areas of our church that it is difficult to keep up with it all.  The C. E. O. of a large company said the other day that the leader does not control an organization.  He gives it a vision and a plan to implement that vision.  I pray that all our studies and activities become a means by which we fulfill the vision of getting every member involved in ministry to accomplish the Great Commission.

From our Associate Pastor

Building Bridges with Terry Stegall

Schooltime is almost upon us.  That means it is time for us to begin praying for our kids, our school system, and our town.  August is a very stressful time for young people.  Each year they have to reintegrate and learn a new system.  Parents need to be aware and sensitive to this.  Help your child to adjust by understanding them.  Can you imagine moving to a new workplace yearly?  Build a bridge with a young person, that they may be all that God needs them to be.

It is great to be home! God is awesome and I thank Him for the wonderful opportunity to continue my education.  I am blessed to serve in a congregation that loves God and IS the body of Christ.  Thank you to each one who prayed for me, sent cards, called, donated money and took care of Tommy .  I love each one of you!

News from the Sanctuary Enhancement Committee

The Sanctuary Enhancement Committee met to make    decisions concerning the final plans of the Sanctuary      Enhancement Project.  The last phase of this project, which is needlepoint kneelers for the communion rails, is underway and decisions are being made in order to get the work done.  The Committee would like to give the entire congregation the opportunity to purchase a kneeler in honor or memory of family or friends; or to make a contribution towards the project.  Those who purchase a kneeler in honor or memory of someone will have those names embroidered on the back of the kneeler.  There will be 20 kneelers at the cost of $140.00 each.  Please contact the church office if you wish to purchase a kneeler or make a contribution to this project.  We are looking forward to starting work on the needlepoint kneelers and we appreciate your help with this project.  We are hopeful that the work will be completed before our 100th Anniversary Celebration in the year 2001.

Karen Taylor is collecting empty cereal boxes for her classroom to rebuild a "cereal box house" which was accidentally destroyed.  The kids in her room used the house for puppet shows and to sit in to read and play.  Please bring any boxes you wish to donate with you to church or drop them by the parsonage.

Inquirers class to begin August 6, at   9:45 a.m. in the Library which is in the back on the fellowship hall.  This class is for all our friends and visitors who may have a few questions to ask about our church and the Christian faith.  We will call the class The Central Team Connection.  The class will go for 4 weeks.

Acolytes: Alison Kruse, Allison Allcorn
