OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Center Chapel United Methodist Church is a community of love and forgiveness modeled after the teachings of Jesus.  We are open to all people.  We seek to provide a safe, welcoming place of spiritual renewal, growth and refuge as we celebrate the seasons of life through worship and fellowship, and as we work for peace and justice in our world.

Center Chapel was built in 1893 and dedicated on the last Sunday of August of that year.  The original building faced south.  In 1941 the building was destroyed by fire after being struck by lightening.  It was rebuild from salvaged lumber from a nearby, abandoned “historical” church.  The rebuilt building faced east.  In 1968 the building was expanded from lumber salvaged from yet another abandoned church.  In 2005, we finally realized our 10-year dream of building a new building to allow for continued growth and moving out of the old building which the structure was deteriorating due to various factors. The new building is located on the adjacent 2 acres which we purchased next to the old church.  We want to make sure to thank the NOMADS for all of their help in making our goal a reality!

Center Chapel is half of a two-part charge.  We share our pastor with Farmers Chapel.

Over the past several years our church has grown in membership.  Our directory lists around 100 families who are members, or affiliated with our church.  We are especially pleased with the growth of our Sunday School, and take pride in the number of children who attend Worship service and participate in children’s time.
