SUPPORT:  Inspiring Stewardship

Stewardship

Stewardship is a gift that considers the blessings of our lives.  Stewardship does not depend on our income but on the grateful commitment of our spirit.  Here at Centenary, stewardship is an expression of our commitment to support this church and its ministries as a priority in our lives.  They are prayerful responses and considerations to respond to God with generous offerings of praise and thanksgiving to support Christ’s work in this world and to share God’s love.

In making a pledge and giving our tithes (proportional giving), our talents, and our offerings, we are all stewards of God’s love.  Centenary’s programs, mission and ministries are supported by our annual financial commitments and by our offerings of time and talent.  Our United Methodist apportionments help us to broadly expand our ministries beyond our church and our community.

Beyond our pledges, tithes, talents and offerings, we can make a bequest in our wills, life income gifts, gifts of life estates, gifts of appreciated property and more.

Arigato Bazaar

The first Saturday in May is Centenary’s Arigato Bazaar.  Patterned after the ancient Japanese tradition of matsuri (festival), the Bazaar is an opportunity for us to invite friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to visit and enjoy Centenary hospitality.  Various church groups and individuals support the Bazaar by selling tickets, arranging entertainment, soliciting donations, making food or crafts to sell, setting up the booths, manning the booths, providing entertainment, and much more.  The Bazaar requires a lot of volunteers and offers a splendid opportunity to help the Centenary cause.

Cookbook Project

The Centenary cookbook is a legacy for future generations.  It provides a cultural linkage to our past through food and introduces many people to the Centenary community.  All cookbook proceeds go to the Endowment Fund that is dedicated to the future of Centenary.

If interested, please contact Carolyn Tokunaga.

Endowment Committee

This committee is beginning on a path to provide a permanent endowment that can maintain the current facilities and programs of the church and expand Centenary in new directions and ministries.  These legacy gifts will be used to continue our mission as Disciples of Christ, seeking to grow in faith, to support others, and to seek peace. With this formidable task ahead, new members and ideas are welcomed.

Golf Tournament

Centenary’s annual fall Golf Tournament is a major fundraising event where Centenary members, friends, and supporters enjoy golfing, eating, and camaraderie on the greens.  The Golf Tournament requires a number of volunteers to plan and support this important event.
