REVEREND KARENFAY RAMOS-YOUNG

For Reverend KarenFay Ramos-Young, her faith motto is to “Live each moment as an opportunity to worship God.”  The lyrics of her favorite hymn, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” expresses how she lives in awe and appreciation of the assurance of God’s constant presences in all that she does.  In her ministries of service, care, worship and Christian education, Rev. KarenFay gives all glory to God.  She is spiritually nurtured when gardening, enjoying music and the arts, flying a kite, laughing and spending precious time with her family and three dogs.

Her love for God is evident in the special programs and worship services that she plans, often using her talents on the accordion, piano, and ukulele to enrich these experiences.  Her enthusiasm is boundless as she guides our youth in mission and presents lessons for young and old alike in her “Children’s Moments” during worship. Her undergraduate degree in Child Development serves as a foundation as she works with our children and youth.

Born in Southern California, with a strong family heritage stemming from the sugar and pineapple plantations of Hawaii’s yesteryears, Rev. KarenFay has served as a cross-cultural pastor at multiracial and ethnic minority churches in California and the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai and Oahu.

Ordained as a United Church of Christ minister, she attended the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley sponsored by her home church, Hollywood Independent United Church of Christ.  She has served at the Lihue Christian Church UCC, Wesley UMC in San Jose, Nu’uanu Congregation Church UCC and Central Union Church UCC in Honolulu, and has been at Centenary since 1999.

Challenged by technology, her husband Darryl and three children help her on the computer when doing anything but word processing.  Leaving the high-tech stuff to family gives her the time to enjoy the “simple” things in life.
