Hiefer International has a long history of supporting people around the world do a little farming and raise some of their own food. The original idea was to purchase and ship a pregnant heifer to another country so that the people could have the milk when the heifer calfs and have a calf to sell or to start a dairy herd.

On the Fourth of July in the Monmouth City Park friends of Christ's Church manage a booth with Homemade Ice Cream and fresh fruit toppings to raise money to support the Heifer Project.

Christ's Church has been a cooperating partner since the inception of the Polk County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The Habitat office is in the church basement and many of the founder have had a relationship with Christ's Church.

Habitat for Humanity is another internationally known organization whose purpose is to help low-income families get into a home of their own. But it's not free; the family earns credits by helping build the house and pays for the cost of the house through a interest-free loan. The money returns to the organization to be added to donations to buy land and materials for additional homes.
