Mission

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Mathew 25:40

We here at Capleville have a long history of mission work. Today our outreach is divided into several areas and reaches far into the community and within our doors.

Once a month blood pressure readings are available for everyone. Quarterly, a blood drive is held to insure members and to provide an area site for the bloodmobile.

Sandwich Brigade: The Youth contribute sandwich items on a monthly basis and meet to make sandwiches for the homeless in the downtown area distributed by Memphis Union Mission.

United Methodist Neighborhood Centers and Reelfoot mission in the northwest corner of the state are our main mission projects. Christmas Baskets, family Christmases, and Thanksgiving baskets are provided for many families through our connection at the Neighborhood Centers. We collect food, clothing, household goods and baby items on a continual basis. Each month contributions are taken to Scott Center, Fraser center or up to Reelfoot mission. These items are then available for the staff of UMNC and Reelfoot to use as needed to assist those in need.

Many thanks to the managers and staff of Kroger for their great assistance in our efforts to feed the hungry.

FOOD ITEMS NEEDED: canned meats, canned fruits, peanut butter, canned vegetables, tuna, cereals, pasta, rice, beans, macaronni & cheese, soups, canned main dish meals, powdered milk, baby food. Brown paper sacks to pack food in. All families receive these items if available additional items are always welcome such as coffee, flour, sugar, Kool-Aid, cocoa and tea. Food stamps do not provide for toilet paper and paper towels so these are always welcome also.

CLOTHING ITEMS: Good used clean clothing. large sizes and baby items are especially needed. Coats, shoes and outer wear.
At Christmas time members collect hats, mittens, scarves and gloves. A number of our members knit or crochet through out the year for this project.

LABELS: Campbell soup and several product labels are collected and taken to UMNC and Reelfoot. These are collected and used to purchase a number of items for the day care centers and playgrounds.

Any items donated should be taken to the mission room which is down the north hall on the right. If you have any questions or wish to help, contact Jesse Bauer, mission and outreach chairman at the church.
