SCUMY
Stewart Canaanville United Methodist Youth (Don't blame me - they named themselves!)
Youth Group is open to any
Middle School or High School youth in the area. The youth meet on
Wednesday nights for worship, fun, and fellowship. The youth are very
active, doing church, community, national, and international service.
Every year they help at the Walk
for the Homeless. Usually, they attend ICHTHUS, an annual
Christian Rock Festival in Wilmore, Kentucky. This year (2009) the
ICHTHUS is June 10th - 13th.
In 2006 and 2008, the high school youth did mission trips to Nicaragua. They met for an afternoon with over 200 youth at a Compassion International Project in Managua and did crafts, skits, songs and fellowship. Ten of the children are sponsored by families and groups in our church and we met separately with those children had special gifts and letters from the sponsors for them. From Managua they traveled to Niquinohomo, a city about an hour and a half from Managua, to spend a week at the Rancho Ebenezer Mission. There, they did painting, chores and held an afternoon bible school for community children. You can read about their adventures and see pictures at their myspace blogsite. There was also time for sight seeing, shoping and a trip to the active Masaya Volcano. |
