About the Canaanville United Methodist ChurchCome In
We welcome the opportunity to worship with you and your family. We hope you are blessed by your visit and decide to come again. Here are a few things about us that might help you feel at home while attending our church.

Canaanville United Methodist Church is a small country church. Generally, about 50 people attend church each Sunday. Our congregation is somewhat diverse. We have carpenters, nurses, professors, students, secretaries, teachers, postal workers, social workers, domestic engineers; several races and nationalities; old and young, though most of our young people are out of high school now and some of them are starting families of their own. We have a  Youth Group that recently has been to Ichthus, a Christian Rock Festival in Wilmore, Kentucky and Aquire the Fire, a youth rally in Cleveland, Ohio. Last year they did a mission trip to Haysville, North Carolina and in February, 2006, they did an 8 day mission trip to Nicaragua. We have a nice nursery with lots of new toys, a crib and a village streets carpet complete with matchbox cars for those with little ones. We are friendly and outgoing and always welcome new members. If you are looking for a small church where you will be welcomed, appreciated and can make new friends, we are the church for you. If you are just visiting the Athens area, stop in on Sunady morning; we welcome visitors.

Our Mission Statement:
To make and nurture disciples of Christ who reach out to the community with Christian love

We have communion
on the first Sunday of each month.

We use technology to assist our worship. We use powerpoint to project words to hymns, responses and scriptures on the front wall. You can hold your child or forget your glasses and not have to worry about the hymnal or the bulletin!

Food and Fellowship Time is held on the Last  Sunday of the month in the Fellowship Hall after the service. You are invited!

Coffee and donuts are offered  every Sunday at 8:30 for early risers.

Quality Nursery Care for pre-school and primary children is available after the children's sermon on the lower level.

Our facility is Handicap Accessible. Ramps are provided by the entrances for those who are unable to negotiate stairs.

Rest rooms are located on the lower level of the church.
At this time they are not handicap accessible, but God is working on that too!

Safety
- We have recently replaced all the wiring in our church, adding emergency exit signs, lights and smoke alarms, and bringing our church up to 2003 Electrical Standards. We have written Safe Sanctuaries policy manual. All our youth and child care workers are screened.

During Joys and Concerns many of us share our joys as well as our prayer concerns.  Please feel free to share yours also. We will be happy to pray for your prayer concerns if you email them to us too.

All numbers in the bulletin refer to pages in the Methodist Hymnal unless followed by a TH which stands for Tabernacle Hymnal. If you don't hymnal crusing, the words to all the hymns are on the screen. Times when the congregation stands are indicated by an asterisk *

We are located near the intersection of State Routes 50 and 690 about 5 miles east of Athens, Ohio.
