Here’s what’s happening:

 

Circle of Friends (COF):

COF will be presenting an evening in Germany “Octoberfest Dinner” on October 24 from 4:00—7:00 pm.  They are also considering a bus trip to Sight and Sound Theater to see “The Miracle of Christmas” on Saturday, November 1st. Please continue to check the bulletin board in the hallway leading to the Fellowship Hall for further information.

 

 

Youth Group:

There are exciting happenings planned for the Fall.  The Youth Group is currently planning to attend the Conference Youth Rally on October 2 and 3.  We will keep you posted.

Heritage Sunday—October 11th

Heritage Sunday will be a way to continue celebrating Barrett Township’s Sesquicentennial.  The circuit riding in 1859 was Rev. Thomas Childs who died in 1869 and was buried in our Candadensis United Methodist cemetery.  To honor his memory and devotion to ministry both our congregation and that of Mountainhome are invited to a service at Rev. Child’s grave site.  This event will take place directly following the “Loaves and Fishes” meal at the cemetery located south of our church on Route 447.

 

Church Conference—October 11th

The Church Conference is Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm following the Heritage Sunday service. 

 

Choir:

Our choirs need you!  Anyone who enjoys singing, fun and fellowship with other great choir members are welcome.  You don’t need to be professionally trained to participate.  Make a joyful noise unto the Lord with us!

 

Chancel Choir:  Meets every Sunday from 9:00 - 10:00 am and then share in food and fellowship from 10:00-10:30 before singing for worship.

 

Wesley Choir:  Rehearse each Sunday from 10:00—10:30 am and sing one Sunday a month.  Any child in grades 1st through 8th is welcome.

 

Blessing of the Animals (October 3rd)

Again this year, on the Saturday closest to the Feast of St. Frances of Assisi on October 4th, Pastor Alt will have the Blessing of the Animals.  The date of this blessing will be October 3 from 9:00—11:00 am  IN FRONT OF THE COTTAGE.  This special event is a witness to God’s and the Church’s love, care and concern for creation.

 

Membership Exploration

Sunday, October 18th

Persons interested in being received into membership of Canadensis United Methodist Church are invited to attend a membership exploration session on Sunday, October 18th, directly following the worship service.  This is a time for fellowship and getting acquainted, sharing spiritual journeys, learning about the history of Canadensis United Methodist Church and discovering the mission and ministry of Canadensis UMC.  A light luncheon will be provided.  Persons wishing to attend, please contact Pastor Alt personally at 595-2279 or 595-7277.
